Serge Kakudji is at the heart of the production of l’Incoronazione di Poppea by MonteverdiIn May 2013 in the role of Amore. He created this role last season at the Teatro Real in Madrid. They nicknamed him the Black Amore. This time, it’s his debut at the Opera of Montpellier.
The sopranos Lyubov Petrova, Elena Tsallagova and the countertenor Serge Kakudji (Virtue, Fortune and Love) resolve in an appreciable manner their characters, thanks to excellent vocality and an unwavering ease onstage with which they didn’t characterize abstract parts, but three participants in a beauty pageant.”
“I soprani Lyubov Petrova, Elena Tsallagova e il controtenore Serge Kakudji (Virtù, Fortuna e Amore) risolvono in modo apprezzabile i loro personaggi, grazie alle eccellenti vocalità e ad una indubbia disnvoltura scenica con la quale hanno caretterizzato non dei personaggi astratti, ma tre partecipanti ad un concorso di bellezza.”

From a beautiful trio of divinities, where Elena Tsallagova and Lyubov Petrova do better, in stage presence and suppleness if not in pure timbral quality, than the indifferent Drusilla of Ekaterina Siurina, l’Amore of Countertenor Serge Kakudji breaks away, man’s body and baby face, a key figure in this hard-to-class, bewitching Poppea and Nerone.”
